Is it the same for you that when non surfers find out you surf they instantly want to know if you've seen 'Riding Giants'? I'm so tired of talking to people about Laird, Jaws and the death of Mark Foo that I'm seriously looking forward to 'Busting down the door' hitting the UK just for the conversation to change. I can just hear it now "you surf? I saw this film once, you ever hear of a guy called Gerry Lopez?...."

Yes, it's the same. Most people are serious kooks, unfortunately...
When I see golfers I always ask them, "Have you heard of Tiger Woods?"...actually I don't...and it wouldn't be that funny.
The fact is people are intrigued by surfing, especially those that don't do it (but wish they could)...
Most people are kooks...many surfers too...sometimes myself included.
Gerry Lopez? Never heard of him...
Something about this period in surfing doesn't quite get me going. I think it's that I'm worried the film will try too hard to bring their era up to par with the legendary status Gerry's deserves.
